High Hopes

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young

In a world of magnets and miracles

Our thoughts raced consciously without boundary

The ringing of the vision bell had begun

Along the long road we undone the cost away

The days did meet there by the cut

There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps

Running before time took our dream away

Leaving the myriamous creature trying to tie us to the ground

To a land consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener

The light was brighter when friends surrounded The night of wonder

Looked beyond the embers of reaching glowing behind us

To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side

Step taken forward, but slip walking back again

Bracketed by the force of some inner tide

In high altitude, with flag unfurled

We reach the distance of the dream world

In combat forever by desire and ambition

Does the hunger still unsatisfied?

Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon

Though down this road we've been so many times

The taste of wonder, the night of wonder

The friends around them, the diamonds glowing, the water flowing
