This one from Juan Liguizamon from Colombia, and the question is, like, what scales do

you recommend for learning rock and metal?

What methods do you suggest for learning them, right?

¿Qué escalas recomiendas para aprender en torno al rock and metal?

So there's no specific scale for those styles, you know, rock and metal.

So basically learning the triads, learning the pentatonics, learning the modes, and then

a lot of metal also use harmonic minor scale so I would learn those that's a lot right so basically

learn music and then I would if you like metal and you're not much into metal and you're starting now

I would recommend to learn riffs so you understand the style you start playing songs you understand

how to write a good song so if you go like the early days of rock with Deep Purple you know the

famous riffs Deep Purple or if you get something like Van Halen if you like something a bit more

happier or major key and then you can go and learn like songs like Symphony of Destruction from

from Megadeth is a simple riff and very effective is a famous riff iconic riff you can get like

Enter Sandman from Metallica, you know, like get famous riffs and then just learn how to play them.

That's a very good start into the style. And then a lot of those riffs are using those scales,

you know, they use a lot of pentatonic, they use the Phrygian mode, like

Symphonic Destruction uses the Phrygian mode. Regarding the modes, you know, and methods,

you know, I did my own methods called seven factor in my guitar academy,

Kiko Loureiro guitar academy, so that I show I have an entire course on riffs and also entire

course on about the modes and also the triads etc pentatonics, because those are the base and

then once you start learning the songs and part of, you know, iconic riffs, iconic part of iconic

songs, you start understanding how to make music with those tools, with the

scales. It's, you know, pentatonics and triads. I think it's very important to

study the scales, but also learn how the bands and musicians, they apply

those skills and those assets, those scales, etc.

into like real iconic songs, you know. So I would suggest for you to learn riffs

as a good start to getting into metal. Cheers, all the best!
