Metropolis, Part I: The Miracle And The Sleeper

The smile of dawn arrived early May. She carried a gift from her home.

The night shed a tear to tell her of fear and of sorrow and pain.

She'll never grow. Death is the path that she'd follow.

I was told there's a miracle in each day that I tried I was told there's a new love that's

I was told there'll be no other car along when I feel alone and afraid.

I was told if you dream of the next world, you'll find yourself swimming in a lake of

black.

As a child, I thought I'd end up hanging with my sorrow

As a man, I thought I'd get to pull up with me

I'm asleep yet I'm so afraid

Somewhere, like the seat of a magnet

There's a picture of a thousand words

And let it stay, the face that's before me

The one way I'll never be heard of again

Just keep expressing my love

It's this poem that teaches us to survive

Just keep my heart in your eyes and we'll stay alive
